The Passenger
In Locke's steps, wandering some bits of Antonioni's film in Barcelona
It’s a film that begins in a glorious desert, about a journalist who somewhat inexplicably assumes the identity of a dead man, to run away from his own life. A film quite literally about escapism and the mysteries of identity and purpose. Shot mostly in Algeria and Spain by one of the midcentury’s most existential filmmakers, starring maybe the greatest movie star of all time. So, yes Antonioni’s The Passenger (of Profession: Reporter) is probably my favorite movie ever, ha.
